IXL is a practice website for maths, English, science and more, used by lots of schools. Signing in is easy once you know which of IXL’s options your school uses, and that’s where most students get stuck.
In this guide I’ll show you each way to sign in to IXL, including the app trick most students miss, and what to do if you’ve forgotten your details.
Option 1: Your school’s IXL sign-in page
Many schools have their own IXL sign-in page, at an address like ixl.com/signin/yourschool. Your teacher or school website will have the link.
Depending on the school, the page lets you:
- enter your IXL username and password
- click Sign in with Clever (or another school sign-in)
- use a LaunchCard, a printed card with your sign-in details
Option 2: The main IXL website
Go to ixl.com, click Sign in, and enter the username and password your teacher gave you.
Option 3: The IXL app
Download the IXL app (iPhone, iPad, Android or Kindle Fire) and enter your username and password.
The app trick: if your school has its own IXL sign-in page, IXL says you need to add your school’s code to the end of your username, like jsmith@springelementary. Your teacher can tell you your school’s code.
If your school uses Google, Clever or ClassLink, IXL’s guide says:
- Android: type @ and your school’s code in the username box, and a single sign-on button appears.
- iPhone/iPad: open your device’s Settings, find the IXL app, and enter your school’s code under Preferences. The sign-on button then appears in the app.
Forgot your IXL username or password?
- Ask your teacher. They can see your username and reset your password.
- If an email address is on your account, IXL support can help. See ixl.com/help.
- If you sign in with Clever or Google, reset that school password through your school, not IXL.
IXL sign-in not working? Try this
- Check you’re on your school’s sign-in page if your school has one.
- Add @yourschoolcode to your username in the app.
- Use the Clever or Google button if that’s how your school signs in, rather than typing a password.
- Check Caps Lock and try again.
- Clear your browser cache or try another browser.
