Socrative is a quiz and quick-check tool teachers use for exit tickets, quizzes and Space Races. As a student, you don’t need an account. You just need your teacher’s room name.
Here’s how to join, based on Socrative’s help center, and what to do if it doesn’t work.
How to join a Socrative room
There are three ways in:
- Scan the QR code your teacher shows.
- Go to gosocrative.com and type the room name.
- Go to socrative.com and enter the room name under Joining an activity? at the top of the page.
Then:
- type your name if you’re asked
- if the room uses a roster, enter your Student ID
- wait for your teacher to start the activity
You don’t need a Socrative account to join a room.
What is a Socrative Student ID?
Some teachers use rostered rooms (a paid Socrative feature). In a rostered room, you must enter the Student ID your teacher gave you. If you don’t know it, ask your teacher; Socrative support can’t give it to you.
Socrative not working? Try this
- Check the room name. Wrong room names are the most common problem. Socrative support can’t look up a room name for you.
- “Waiting for your teacher to start an activity” means no quiz is running, or you’ve already finished it.
- Need another try? If your teacher has turned off one-attempt mode, click the gear icon › Leave Room, then log back in.
- Type the address yourself rather than using a search result.
- Refresh or try a different browser.
For teachers
Teachers create quizzes and launch them in their room at socrative.com, then share the room name or QR code. If you use other quiz tools, see my comparison of Kahoot vs Gimkit vs Blooket and my guide to Formative Join.
