Quizlet Live Join: How to Join a Quizlet Live Game With a Code

How to join a Quizlet Live game at quizlet.live with a code or QR, how teams and individuals mode work, how to win, and what to do if you can't join.

On this page

Quizlet Live turns a Quizlet flashcard set into a fast class game. Your teacher puts a join code on the board, you type it in, and you’re on a team racing to match terms and definitions.

In this guide I’ll show you how to join a Quizlet Live game on a computer or phone, how the game works, how a team wins, and what to try if you can’t get in.

How to join Quizlet Live on a computer or Chromebook

According to Quizlet’s help center:

  1. Go to quizlet.live (or quizlet.com/live).
  2. Type the join code your teacher shows on the screen.
  3. Select Join game.
  4. Enter your name and select Next.

Then wait. Your teacher starts the game once everyone has joined. In teams mode, you’ll see which team you’re on, and it helps to sit with your teammates.

How to join Quizlet Live in the app

  1. Open the Quizlet app (iPhone, iPad or Android) and log in.
  2. Tap Search, then Play Quizlet Live.
  3. Choose to join a game.
  4. Scan the QR code on your teacher’s screen, or type the join code.
  5. Enter your name and confirm.

How Quizlet Live works

Quizlet now calls the original game Classic Live in its menus. It has two modes:

  • Teams mode: players are put into random teams. Each teammate sees different answer options on their own screen, so you have to talk to each other to find the right one.
  • Individuals mode: everyone plays on their own, which suits remote classes.

Quizlet says a teams game needs at least four players, and the study set needs at least six terms.

How do you win?

Teacher guides explain the rule: the first team to answer 12 questions correctly in a row wins (teams of two need eight). A wrong answer resets your streak to zero, so speed matters less than getting it right. When the game ends, your teacher can show the questions the class found hardest.

Quizlet Live not working? Try this

  1. Check the code. Type it exactly as shown, and make sure the game hasn’t ended or been restarted with a new code.
  2. Use the right site. Type quizlet.live yourself rather than clicking a search result. Look-alike “Quizlet Live join” sites exist.
  3. Update the app if you’re joining on a phone.
  4. Refresh the page or try a different browser.
  5. Check your Wi-Fi. School networks or web filters can block game sites.
  6. Ask your teacher to check that the game is still waiting for players.

How to host a Quizlet Live game (for teachers)

  1. Log in on the Quizlet website and open a set with at least six terms. Games can only be started on the website, not the app.
  2. Select Live, then Classic Live, then Get Started.
  3. Choose teams or individuals mode, and whether students answer with terms or definitions.
  4. Project your screen and share the join code.
  5. Select Create game, then Start game once everyone has joined.

To host teams mode, Quizlet says you need to have signed up as a teacher. Paid Quizlet Plus plans add extra customisation.
