Schoology Login: How Students Sign In and Join a Course

Schoology is a learning management system owned by PowerSchool. Schools use it for courses, assignments, discussions and grades. How you log in depends on whether your school runs its own Schoology site or you signed up yourself.

In this guide I’ll explain each way to log in to Schoology, how to join a course with an access code, and what to do when you can’t get in.

Most students: log in through your school

If your school uses Schoology, it usually gives you an account and its own login page:

1. Go to your school’s Schoology address. Many districts use a custom address, such as yourdistrict.schoology.com. Check your school website or ask your teacher.
2. Sign in with your school account. Many schools use Google, Microsoft or another single sign-on, so you may be sent to that sign-in page.
3. You’ll land on your Schoology home page with your courses.

Log in on the Schoology app

1. Download the free Schoology app for iPhone, iPad or Android.
2. Find your school and sign in with your school details, or use your Schoology email or username and password if you have a personal account.

QR code login

Some schools, especially for younger students, use QR code login. Schoology says students can sign in by going to app.schoology.com/login/qr (or your district’s version of that link) and scanning the code their school gives them.

The code works like a password. Keep it private, and if it’s lost, the school can reset it so the old one stops working.

How to join a Schoology course with an access code

If your teacher gives you an access code, PowerSchool’s guide says to:

1. Log in to Schoology.
2. Select Courses, then My Courses.
3. Click Join Course.
4. Enter the access code and click Join.

Course access codes are 13 characters, shown like XXXX-XXXX-XXXXX. A group access code won’t work in the Join Course box.

Signing up as a new student

If your school doesn’t give you an account, you can sign up in the Schoology app or on the website as a Student with the access code from your teacher, then add your name, email and password.

Schoology login not working? Try this

1. Use your school’s Schoology page, not the general login page, if your school has its own.
2. Sign in with your school account, not a personal email.
3. Check the access code has all 13 characters and that it’s a course code, not a group code.
4. “Join Course” missing? Your school may manage enrolment itself. Ask your teacher.
5. Forgot your password? If your school uses single sign-on, reset it through your school. Otherwise use the forgot password link.
6. Clear your browser cache or try another browser.
